MU tennis loses to Oklahoma State

The Missouri women’s tennis team was defeated by Oklahoma State 5-2 in Stillwater, Okla., on Friday afternoon.

Missouri freshman Kaitlyn Ritchie won her match at No. 5 singles and junior Sofia Ayala won at No. 6. Both won 6-2, 6-2. Ayala’s win was her fifth straight set win in her last six Big 12 matches. She is 5-2 in Big 12 play this season.

In the only three set match, Oklahoma State freshman Jo-Anne Karaitiana defeated Missouri senior Chrissy Svetlic 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. The Cowboys swept all three doubles matches to win the doubles point. Oklahoma State picked up their fifth win in their last six matches to improve to 11-8 and 5-5 in the Big 12.

Missouri (10-12, 2-8 Big 12) will visit Oklahoma for the Tigers’ final Big 12 match of the season at 11 a.m. Saturday.
