Do you consider yourself a local celebrity?
Not really. I am the most humble dude you will ever meet. I don’t go out expecting people to kiss my feet, take pictures or ask me for autographs. I treat everyone I meet the same way I would want to be treated. I didn’t get into this business for the fame. I got into it for the love of music.
What are your top 5 favorite songs?
“Scenario” by Tribe Called Quest; “Juicy” by Notorious B.I.G.; Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean”; “Unconditional Love” by Hi-Five; and “Bottle Poppin’” by Yung Joc.
What album are you looking forward to coming out this year?
Mariah Carey’s new album. I want to see if she can surpass the success she had with “The Emancipation of Mimi.”
What is one artist most people wouldn’t expect you to like?
Ashley Tisdale. From low expectations, she surprised me with a couple of her songs.
What is the worst thing/most annoying thing about the job?
Missing everything that happens during prime time hours and working most holidays.
What are some of the perks of the job?
I get all the hot new music and upcoming singles before anyone else does. Networking with other radio personalities/DJs and artists that come through the area.
What does music mean to you?
Music to me is an escape from reality whenever I don’t want to deal with the politics of radio or negative aspects of my life. I listen to certain songs from my personal play lists that end up motivating me. There are certain songs everyone can relate to and compare to their day-to-day life.
What is one thing listeners would never guess about you?
If I didn’t pursue radio deejaying, I would have wanted to be an athlete. I also have high aspirations to take up snowboarding one day.
