Myrtle Tooley Canton
Myrtle Tooley Canton of Columbia died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at University Hospital. She was 70.
She was born Nov. 23, 1937, in Forrest Green to Cecil and Ruth Lee Tooley.
She was the head cook for Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity at MU.
Mrs. Canton is survived by her mother; one daughter, Dian Savage of Tulsa, Okla.; one son, Alvin Canton of Columbia; four sisters, Verna McKee of Fayette and Genelle Hawkins, Devolia Eubanks, and Ruby Mayfield, all of Columbia; five brothers, William Tooley of Kansas City, Chester Ganaway of Boonville, Delbert Ganaway of Slater and Glenn Ganaway and Lynn Ganaway, both of Columbia; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Two sons, Michael Canton and George Canton Jr., and one brother, Curtis Tooley, died earlier.
Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Second Baptist Church, 407 E. Broadway, in Columbia. Services, conducted by the Rev. Raymond Hayes, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Second Baptist Church. H.T. May & Son Funeral Home, 405 Sycamore, in Boonville, is handling the arrangements.
